Our team members are passionate about giving back, and we know we can make the greatest impact by providing our financial and volunteer support to charities and community-focused organizations. Here are just a few causes that we are involved with. The Pan-Massachusetts Challenge/Jimmy Fund The Pan-Massachusetts Challenge (PMC) is an annual bike-a-thon that crosses the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
The PMC donates to the Jimmy Fund, which supports cancer research and treatment at Boston's world-renowned Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Our President, David Keegan, and CFO, Greg Williams, participate each year in raising money for this worthy cause. With corporate sponsors covering the costs of all logistics, 100 cents of every rider-raised dollar goes toward lifesaving cancer research and treatment at Dana Farber Cancer Institute through its Jimmy Fund. The PMC has contributed $270 million since its 1980 inception.

Major McClung Memorial Run/Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund This is a race dedicated to Major McClung (April 14, 1972–December 6, 2006). She was the first female United States Marine Corps officer killed in combat during the Iraq War. Major McClung was serving as a public affairs officer in Al Anbar Province, Iraq when she was killed. MATSG 53 and her family now host an annual run at Whidbey Island Naval Air Station to remember this local fallen hero with an event being held overseas (2011 in Afghanistan) so fellow Marines can participate. Our Controller, Michael McClung, proudly supports this worthy cause in memory of his sister. The race supports the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund. In 2011, the Fifth Annual Major McClung Run was able to raise over $10,000 in donations in support of the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund. The Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund provides financial grants to post-9/11 injured Marines, Sailors, and service members injured while assigned to Marine forces, and their families during their difficult road to recovery and has surpassed $50 million dollars in donations thanks to events like the Major McClung Memorial Run. If you would like to donate to the run at any time, please click here for more information. Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Recently, Gretchen Summers had the honor of training with Team in Training for America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride. Team in Training is a fundraiser for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The mission of the Society is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. The organization stretches back to 1949. Team in Training began in 1988 and allows participants of nearly any level to train with certified coaches in a variety of sports. My event was a 100 mile ride around Lake Tahoe, America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride. From the early training sessions, to the final day of the ride you can get information on Gretchen’s blog. At the end of the day, chapters of TNT from around the country together raised over $6.8 million at this ride.
